Bulk Food System

What you’re getting in the kit:

4 TWO-LITER JARS: They are made using a blend of new and recycled glass. The unique shape of the jars is designed to optimize both form and function.  The shape of the mouth makes for easy filling, cleaning, and pouring. The jar’s rectangular shape makes it easy to fit all you want in your pantry. We designed this jar to be easily held in one hand.

4 LIDS: The jar lids are made of solid acacia wood finished with food safe oil. A silicone ring seals the lid against the glass. We chose acacia wood because they are fast growing and a great source for sustainable wood.

4 TWO-LITER BULK FOOD BAGS: Made out of Tencel lyocell fabric, the bulk food bags are sized to perfectly match the capacity of the jars. The fabric was carefully selected from many fabric options to meet a variety of objectives: sustainability, durability, low tare weight, and relatively powder-tight. Tencel is considered to be very sustainable, even compared to materials like organic cotton, and is produced without any toxic chemicals. Note that as with most fabrics, if you do fill it with powder, some amount of powder will seep through the bag is handled. 

DISPENSER RING: Made of food grade 304 stainless steel, the dispenser ring is designed to help make pouring your bulk items into your reusable bags more convenient and contactless. Slip the ring around the top inside of a bag and bunch up the slack in the bag with one hand. This keeps the bag open while the other hand pours the food into the bag without touching it.

HOW TO USE:

Bags:

Machine wash and air dry.

Bring your bags with you to the grocery store the next time you go shopping. Look for the bulk foods area in your store and find the bulk foods you’re looking for, such as pasta, rice, granola, flour, etc. Use the dispenser ring for contactless bag filling. Mark down the product codes as normal, checkout, and bring your bulk foods home. Once home, transfer the foods from the bag into a jar to preserve freshness.

Jars:

Wash the jars in a dishwasher or by hand before use. Hand-wash the wooden lids. The wide mouth of the jars makes filling and pouring easy, even without a funnel.

Dispenser ring:

Slip the dispenser ring around the mouth of the bag and hold the excess bag material tight, then hold the bag under the bulk food dispenser. Dispense the bulk food without touching the bag to the dispenser.
